Musical Theater Masterclass with Emily Kristen Morris Tuesday, December 10, 2024 Ages: 8 – 13 (All students in this age group must be accompanied by an adult – adults will not be charged, only singers or observers)Cost: $125 – Singer (11 spots available) | $55 – Observer (no limit)*Time: 5 PM – 7 PM This class is all about our younger students learning to act through song!The class will include: A musical theatre-focused group warm-up. One-on-one song coaching (an average of 10 mins per singer) Our younger students will learn in this class about acting through song, and what it takes to stand out in musical theatre. Learn what it takes to make strong choices in an audition room! Emily will also give singing guidance on how to improve their vocal strength, agility, balance, and connection with the song they’re singing. A Q&A at the end for everyone who attends. Ask Emily about vocal technique, audition questions, being a professional NYC actor, and what it’s like to do a Broadway national tour… all questions are welcome! A photo op at the end of the Masterclass with Emily. Required: Students who enroll as singers in either section MUST come prepared with a memorized song. Song should be cut down to audition length (normally 16 – 32 bars) Note: A 16-bar section typically lasts about 30 to 45 seconds, with one minute being the absolute maximum. For a 32-bar section, aim for around 1:15 to 1:30. Remember, the key is to ensure the cut feels right and has a solid musical flow. Students should also have knowledge and some singing experience. Please provide a clean copy of the sheet music of your song (preferably in a small 3-ring binder) for the accompanist. *Minimum Enrollment required for Class to run. Processing Fee – A $4 per ticket charge for all purchasing to support the software that enables online ticket sales. REFUND POLICY- In the event that your child cannot participate in the class after you have registered, Raue Center will issue a 50% refund of your registration fee up to two weeks before the start date. After this time period, if your child cannot participate in the class we will refund you 50% of your total fee in the form of a Raue Center gift certificate, redeemable for any upcoming RCSA Class within a year of cancellation, or can be used at Raue Center for tickets, etc. (restrictions may apply). Students will explore all aspects of classic and modern musical theatre, with a focus on the three core performance disciplines unique to the genre–acting, singing, and dance. With special sessions on audition technique, improvisation, movement and vocal health, as well as guest instructors including veterans of the Chicago and New York theatre scene, this class is a true immersive experience for young performers, helping them to develop as artists and young theatre professionals–and a must for any student with plans to pursue a theatre career.
