MASTERCLASS: The ANNIE Audition Experience

The Raue Center School for the Arts proudly presents the next in our Masterclass series – The ANNIE Audition Experience, featuring, guest artists Ellie Rose Pulsifer (Annie) and Harrison Drake (Drake) from the current National Tour of ANNIE appearing at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre.  Our guest artists guide participants step-by-step through a professional audition and casting process and teach a dance combination from the Audition! Find out from ANNIE herself how young artists live on tour! Join us for this wildly fun and unique experience.GUEST ARTIST BIOSEllie Rose Pulsifer 12-year-old actor, singer, and dancer. Ellie is currently Annie on the Broadway National Tour, other roles include: Regional Theater, Matilda (Amanda Thripp), The Jungle Book (Mowgli), Shrek (Young Fiona), Gypsy, Balloon Girl (Baby June| Young Louise U|S), Cat in the Hat (Sally) Local Theater, Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), Annie (Molly), Matilda, (Matilda). In addition to her theater training, she has 10 years of ballet, jazz, and tap, under her belt. Fun fact about Ellie…she’s a practicing ventriloquist!  Follow her Annie tour journey Instagram: @ellie_rose_actorHarrison Drake is a New York based actor currently playing Drake the butler, and also understudies F.D.R. and Oliver Warbucks in the National Tour of Annie. His previous National Tour credits include Anastasia and A Bronx Tale. Other regional credits include Fables (Lincoln Center), Annie (Ogunquit Playhouse), A Little Night Music and Les Misérables (Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma). Harrison has also performed internationally with Princess Cruises as a production show vocalist. He is currently the interim dance captain for the show.Raue Center’s Master Classes are taught by professional artists from across the country, focusing on a variety of disciplines and specialties throughout the year.  Depending on the class, attendees may be asked to join as either a participant or spectator- joining our experts on stage for exercises or practice modules.  Spectators are encouraged to observe the process and are welcome to participate in the question and answer sessions following the workshop. 

MASTERCLASS: A MELODIC APPROACH TO IMPROVISATION with ERNIE WATTS

Watts discusses how to create musical freedom through discipline and shares stories from his life lived in music for over 60 years followed by a Q&A.  BIOTwo-time Grammy Award winner Ernie Watts is one of the most versatile and prolific saxophone players in music. Watts has been playing professionally for over 50 years. He has been featured on over 500 recordings and became “first call” for all the reed instruments for films, TV, and recordings with pop icons such as Marvin Gaye, Steely Dan, Carole King, Frank Zappa, all the Motown artists, and many others. Watts played for 20 years in Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show band, always exhibiting his unforgettable trademark sound. In 2014, Watts received the prestigious Frankfurt Music Prize given by the city of Frankfurt, Germany. It is presented to both classical and non-classical musicians. Of the 32 current winners, only 6 have been jazz musicians. Per the Frankfurt Music Prize Foundation, Watts was “selected for his strikingly melodic saxophone style and his original tone language, with which he has already enriched several generations of musicians.
